Dive 35 &36 Final day at the gym!

Dive 35- Will and I were ready to go this morning.  We actually got to the chamber early, this is very unusual!  We had a visitor waiting to talk to us when we got there.  It was the grandpa of one of Will's little "gym" friends.  Miss Josie is scheduled to start HBOT next week and Grandpa Pete wanted to ask me what I thought about it.  Of course I told him all the very positive things!  This unfortunately made us late for the dive, but this time it wasn't my fault!  :) Will watched Doc McStuffins this morning. Day 15- The final day at the gym. The final day is a hard balance.  Miss Tiffany needs to get some last "measurements" to see if Will met the goals she set for him. So there is work to do, but she also wants him to have fun.  She started the day by telling him that the yellow suit was going in the washer.  He would not be wearing it today.  He said "Yay!  It makes me tired."  I'm sure it does! Will brought Woo...

Dive 33 & 34 Day 14...

Dive 33- Will and myself again.  I'm almost finished with my 3rd book! Yay!  Will is happily watching TV.  All is well. Day 14...one more to go! Will is still a little tired today but does much better than yesterday.  He language is still exploding!  It's fun to listen to him and to watch how much progress he has made.   This morning Will has an idea to get the day started.  Tiffany loves it! A fun way for Will to practice balancing. (and to remind him to keep his shaky head "habit" under control) Today the treadmill time was moving a little slow for Will.  He was ready to get off soon after he started.  I think this calls for a little motivational music! This video is an example of how much progress Will and made AND how his language is going too.  It's the little things, and how quick he comes up with something!) Now for snack time and the amazing thing Will did!  I was out of the room at the time, but I lov...

It's hump-day! Dive 31 & 32- Day 13

Dive 31- Another morning of just Will and me!  I do enjoy the quiet morning dives.  Will sits back and watches TV and I set back and read my book and journal.  Pretty good way to start the day! Day 13- It's Wednesday of the third week and once again, Will is tired!  He asked if we are going home after the gym today...not yet buddy. He and Tiffany start out with a little knee walking.  He has a hard time keeping his balance. Then they move on to floor exercises.  He does better with this. He went on to walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes.  Then on to the wall.  He's doing so much better with this.  He walks down to the end, where he puts the puzzle together.  He adds some fancy foot work today and lots of personality! Did you catch that we had a visitor today?  My fabulous sister in law dropped by to watch Will and brought me lunch!  Thanks Jess! Will was dragging today.  His little legs just didn't want ...

Dive 29 & 30- Day 12...Amazing!

Dive 29 and 30 both worked out well.  Just Will and myself in the morning and then Mason joined us in the afternoon.  Easy Peazy! The gym was great today.  Will did everything a little better than yesterday, progress all around!  I am only posting one video today though because I want you to focus on how unbelievable it is!  Will is such a hard worker.  He's always pushing himself to do better, even if he's so tired he can't hardly move his little legs.  This video was taken at the very end of the day.  A little past the stopping point in fact!  He worked hard for about 3 hrs and 15 mins and ended with this! That's all folks!  Will amazes me every day...especially when we are here and I see how hard he works. The biggest enjoyment I got today was seeing the look of his face.  He was so proud of himself.  At lunch we even had to call Daddy real quick to tell him the news!  Incredible!

Dive 27 & 28 Day 11

It's Monday...of the third week...Will is asking when we are going home!  A good sign that his little brain is making progress.  He's much more aware of being away from home this time. Dive 27- It's just Will and myself again.  I get some good reading time in and he watches Disney Jr.  I'm so thankful that he is a good diver!  He always lets me read, something I don't do much of at home! Day 11-  Like I said, it's Monday...of the third week.  Will is tired!  He starts out a little rough... The morning gets better from there.  Will goes to the treadmill, where he walks (attached to the bungees) for 5 minutes then walks with Alfie (on the treadmill) for another 5...I think.  Then when Tiffany is unhooking him from the bungees, he decides he will try this... Something else they are working on...transferring from one thing to another.  Will is making progress on this when he remembers to move his feet! TIffany dec...

Eventful weekend...or not.

Well, the weekend is over.  I'm sad to say it wasn't what we all hoped it would be.  Let me explain... It started off nice.  Phil and the kids got into Kansas City in time for dinner at Minsky's!  Delicious!  We went back to Rezzi, watched a little TV and then went to bed. Saturday morning Phil took Will to a dive. While they were gone, I took Ben and Isabel to the hotel pool. Then is was off to see Inside Out!  Yay!  I love family movies! This was just before the movie started.  Looking at it now, it seems Isabel looks a little pale.  When the previews started she had her hand propped against her hand.  I asked her if she was ok, she said she was tired. A little while later Iz told me she was feeling dizzy.  I got her out of the theater and into the restroom just in time!  Poor baby!  I took her back to Rezzi and then went back for the boys after she was settled.  They all enjoyed the movie, Iz and I wil...

Dive 22 & 23 Day 10

My family is on their way here, so this is going to be a short blog!  I am also taking the weekend off to spend it with them so I will be back on here Monday. Dive 22 was just Will and myself again.  I got my reading in and he watched TV.  Piece of cake! Day 10- the end of 2nd week! Will was tired today, but he worked hard!  I normally don't video him taking off his seatbelt but I told him I would today if he could undo it.  Maybe I should use that more often! Next was the treadmill.  I really like this idea.  Today Will wanted to rest very early on.   Tiffany was trying to encourage him to keep going.  Then Will decided maybe he could rest when he counted to 100. There was lots more that happened today, including another "resting snack" at the window, but I'll skip to the end.  Will is doing great with this task, making a little progress every day! I can't wait to see what week 3 has in store!  Go Will Go! ...

Dive 20 & 21 Day 9

Dive 20 Another quiet morning all to ourselves.  I actually stretched out on the bench and read while Will watched Disney Jr- Sophia the First I believe. Day 9 Happy Birthday Miss Tiffany!  Of course, I didn't know this until we got there this morning so I owe her a gift!  Yikes! This morning she started Will out on the mat doing some floor exercises.  He's getting pretty good at these! The first thing on the agenda today...the treadmill!  Will has done this before but not like today.  Today he walked in Alfie on the treadmill.  Pretty cool! After all the walking Will walked (in Alfie) over to the window ledge.  He stood up next to the ledge and let Alfie go.  Miss Tiffany was going to get him a bench to sit on for his snack break, but before she could...he grabbed his snack and started opening the bag.  Wow! I'm not sure if you realize how amazing this is.  He opened the bag (pretty amazing in itself!) and then di...

Dive 18 & 19, Day 8

Dive 18 This morning was pretty quiet.  Just Will and myself.  I did get some quality reading time in, but it was kind of lonely without Mr. Austin and Julie! Day 8 Will was extra chatty at the gym today and wanted to do things his way.  Just a sign that the oxygen is getting things moving in his brain! Let's start with floor exercises. Then they moved on to the cage. When Will lost his balance and had to get up off the floor, Tiffany and I were both shocked when he just did it! Tiffany and I were talking and Mr. Will was tired of waiting.  He was quite impatient today, but it worked out! Will was excited when he made the pins flip! After the cage Miss Tiffany asked Will is he was ready to do the scooter.  He thought for a minute and said how about do that and pointed to the blue wall.  I think he's taking a trip down memory lane! Will kept biting on his tshirt ( a fairly recent habit) so Tiffany said, Why don't we j...

Dive 16 & 17, Day 7 at the Gym

It's Dive 16...Austin's last dive.  It's always bittersweet when a new friend leaves the spaceship!  Austin is such a sweet guy, he always insists that Will and I go in the chamber first.  Once he's inside and seated he always makes sure I have a blanket for the dive (like I said before, I'm always cold!).  I have seen him make progress in our few dives together.  I can't wait to follow his progress on Facebook  once he gets home. Day 7 at the gym.   Today was a much better day!  Will was well rested and ready to go and Miss Tiffany was ready too!  They started with some floor exercises and then Will bear walked to the cage. This was his first trick in the cage. Then he did this... Here's Daddy's dance revisited! Today Will squatted and pick up smaller bouncy balls to toss.  He had fun with that! Before Will kicked the pins he wanted to show me something.  Check him out! Will has come such a long way...

Dive 14 and 15 Day 6 at the gym

Yesterday afternoon my sister Katie called me.  She was heading our way!  Yay!  Will and I went to 5:00 mass and then met Aunt Katie!  She stayed with us last night, what a nice surprise! This morning was rough.  Mr. Will didn't want to get out of bed and I heard some very sad news from our community back home that didn't start the day off very well. Dive #14 Austin and a very tired Mr. Will.  Austin is on the downhill slope.  He will finish his 40 dives tomorrow morning.  Will and I are going to miss Austin and his mom Julie. Doc McStuffins on the TV again! Day 6 at Miss Tiffany's gym Oh boy, Will is spent!  I think last week really did a number on him.  Remember, he is coming off of a broken collarbone and very little therapy.  I had to remind Miss Tiffany of that as well!  Will is a very hard worker and he will keep plugging along...until today when he hit the wall. The first couple activities were pretty tough unti...

Slow Weekend...dives 11, 12, 13

Mr. Will and I took the weekend off.  Well, not really...Will did squeeze in 3 dives but other than that is was a pretty relaxed weekend. I even gave myself a break from blogging.  Phil and the kids are coming next weekend.  We're looking forward to that!

Day 5- Dive# 9 & 10

Dive #9 was Austin and Will again.  Austin's Mom Julie and I talked the whole time.  It really makes the time go by quickly! Day 5 at the Gym Miss Tiffany was working with another familiar face when we got there today.  Miss Josie was working hard.  Will met Josie on the 4th trip (i think).  We watched Josie finish up her therapy and then got started! Mr. Will has pretty tired today.  Several yawns and well deserved tired muscles.  He still worked very hard.  He'll be ready for the weekend! The ladder wasn't much better.  Tiffany is not sure if she is going to leave the hip supports off of Alfie.  You can see how Will is really leaning to the left. The cage looked pretty good today.  Will caught several balls in a row.  I would like to post a video of this except I was pretty much sitting in front of the video camera while tossing the ball to Will.  Not a great shot!  So I'll focus on squats!  Wil...

Day 4- Dives 7 & 8

Dive #7 was Austin and Will again.  Will agreed to the Disney Jr channel this morning.  There was a Sofia the First episode on.  Sofia turned into a mermaid and helped rescue a little mermaid from a sea witch.  I have to admit I was kind of into it! Day 4 at Miss Tiffany's gym... When we got out of the spaceship and went over to the gym Miss Tiffany was working with a familiar face.  It was Jordan!  We met Jordan a couple trips ago.  Tiffany sees him on a weekly basis. Will loves to watch Jordan work in the gym.  This morning Will got to play catch with Jordan. Will was super quiet when Jordan was there, but showed his excitement after Jordan left.  Pretty cute! Tiffany put the suit on Will first thing and then he tried out his new stripped down Alfie!  Every time we're here she takes a new piece off.  I love it! Notice there is nothing holding Will's hips in place now.  That means he has to really engage his core ...

Day 3 Dive 5 & 6

Dive #5- It's Austin and Will again, and of course their Mamas! It's Disney Jr again on the television, thank Goodness Austin doesn't mind! Day 3 at the Gym... Boy did Will work hard today!  He started with some floor exercises.   I should have done them too! There was sit-ups, side crunches and some arm and leg extensions.  Whoa! After that the suit came on and so did the weight!  Will needs to learn to dig his feet in and pull himself forward.  This is Miss Tiffany's way of working on that! That's roughly 25 pounds he's dragging behind him!   Will moved on to more ladder walking after the weight was taken off.  I really zoomed in so you can see how his little foot really needs the help of this tool.  He scrapes the divider often and then still crossed his feet when he leaves the ladder.  He'll get it though! Now for something new.  A different way to walk around the room.   Will has a tende...

Dive #3 and #4, Day 2 at the gym

We had a little bit of excitement last night in the KC area.  The sky was a little ominous and opened up and dumped lots of rain in some areas here.  Luckily here at the Rezzi (aka the Residence Inn) we didn't get it too bad.  Mom and I took turns looking out the window, but never got that worked up about it.   Moving on to dive #3...It's Mr. Austin and his mom again and Will and myself.  It's a pretty quiet dive.  Will watched Doc McStuffins and Austin mostly slept.  I wrote in my journal and read the first of my many books I brought along.  At the end of the dive it gets cold, especially for me...I'm always cold!  The next thing I know Austin, who was sitting next to me, handed me a blanket to use.  He is such a sweet guy.  His Mom said he's always been like that and she's glad the accident didn't change his personality.   Day 2 at the gym... Miss Tiffany was ready for us today!  She had Will do quite a few things...

Time really flies on this blog!

Well, we have had some other things happen in our lives but this is the only time I think to blog about them!  We're back in Kansas City for another round of Intensive Suit Thearpy and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.  I wonder what amazing things will happen while we're here this time! This marks the 6th trip for Intensive Suit Therapy and the 4th trip for HBOT.  It seems like yesterday when we came for the first time. MeMe rode to KC with us last night and will be staying for a few days.  It's so nice to have her here. It made the drive seem very short.  Will and I are enjoying her company very much! Will loves his Frozen Game, Surprise Slides.  He beat MeMe 2 times! Dive #1 We're back with the amazing Ms Cheryl.  She welcomes Will with a big hug!  He was happy to see her!  At this morning's dive we were joined with a young man named Austin and his mom.  Poor Austin had to go along with Will's request for Disney Jr on the televisi...

Dive 37 & 38. Day 14

It's so hard to believe we're down to one day left.  It may not seem that way to my hubby and kids at home, but this has flown by.  (It always does.  Don't get me wrong, I miss my family and can't wait to see them tomorrow!) Dive 37 When we got to the spaceship today there was a new diving partner.  I don't know her story but Miss Hudsyn is pretty cute.  She has a nurse ( I think) diving with her today and Captain David rides along too!  It's a pretty quiet ride.  Will watched the Disney channel and all was well. Day 14 As I said before, the time really has gone by quickly.  Will is doing quite well at the gym.  Awe, who am I kidding...he's done great!  He can definitely improve on the beginning skills Miss Tiffany introduced on week one, but he has come so far in such a short amount of time.   This is also improving, although he just about bit the dust in his earlier attempt (we'll just delete that clip!) Now on to...

Dive# 35 and 36 Day 13 day at the gym

Will was exhausted yesterday.  I started driving around Kansas City right after we left dive 34 in hopes of getting Will to take a little nap.  It wasn't until I was getting ready to pull back into Rezzi (giving up) when I looked in the mirror and saw a tuckered out little Will.  Ugh!  The problem...it was 4:30 at the time!  I decide to let him sleep for 30 minutes and that's it.  I was worried that Will wouldn't want to go back to sleep a few hours later.  Fast forward to 10:00 pm and my little guy was STILL AWAKE!  Oh Boy! When we're here I dress him in his "gym clothes" for pajamas.  That way I don't have to get him dressed in the morning.  This morning totally explains why I do that.  At 7:45 I grabbed Will out of bed and put him in the car to make it right on time to our 8:00 dive.   Dive 35 is once again just us.  Will eats his breakfast during the ear popping time and all is well.   Day 13 at the gym (...

Dive #33 and #34, Day 12 at the gym (3 days to go...)

Dive 33 is once again Will and myself.  Will snuggles in to watch Mickey Mouse on television and eats a breakfast bar while the ear popping would regularly happen.  I actually finished my journaling before I put his "space-helmet" on.  I snuggle into my new book, The Paris Wife. Day 12 at the gym It's a dark and rainy morning in Kansas City and Will is once again moving slow.  I think he might be getting bored with his routine.  After he set up the pins and then knocked them down walking with Alfie and after he beat Miss Tiffany at their race...again.  We tried something new.  Will thought it was a great idea! Tiffany thought Will might lean on the cart, but he didn't...maybe he'll get to do this again tomorrow! On to the mirror.  Will has really excelled in this!  Tiffany is impressed with his side stepping.  I remember back to our first trip when Will was hanging onto the windowsill and screaming for help.  His hips were ...

Dive 31 & 32 Day 11 at the gym...It's our last week!

It's just Will and myself this morning, we settle into our normal diving routine.  I can't believe we're at dive 31!  It really has gone by so quickly.  I say that from here, Kansas City, where I have one primary concern...Mr. Will.  I talked to the hubs this morning...I don't think it has gone quite so quickly for him.  He's putting in some mandatory hours at work and of course putting in overtime at home too.  Being a single Dad to two school aged children is no easy gig!  Throw in a couple evening meetings and an attention hungry puppy and it's enough to make a guy very tired!  I'll be home soon honey! Day 11 Will is moving kind of slow this morning.  Maybe it's because it's Monday or it could be our evening at the park Saturday night.  We had a VERY RELAXED  day yesterday but I don't know that it was enough.  Poor guy had a tough time getting started.  He even had a crash...don't worry, he wasn't hurt. I ran a ...

Lazy Sunday (still got in dive 29 & 30!)

Dive 29 Miss Tessa is joining us this morning.  Tessa is Miss Tiffany's daughter who is a track star and a very active girl.  She sprained her ankle over the weekend and has landed herself in the spaceship.  Isn't that amazing the different things HBOT works for!  If you haven't gone to HHI's website yet, you really should.  There is tons of information on there and you might just see a familiar face or two! Go take a look!   www.oxygenunderpressure.com After our morning dive we were going to do laundry but the washers were full so instead we took the day to rest, just as God intended! Back to the spaceship for Dive 30 Tessa was back again and this time she brought the movie...FROZEN!!  We couldn't find our copy of Frozen when we packed up so Will hasn't seen it in a couple weeks.  I was happy to see it again too! After this dive I called in an order at my fav Mexican restaurant.  We drove to pick it up and then it was back to ...

Dives 27 & 28

The amazing Miss Cheryl met us at the spaceship this morning for a late morning (10am) dive 27. Thanks Miss Cheryl for letting us relax a little this morning!  We even got to go to the Rezzi's dining room for breakfast before we left.  We never do that!  Will just had to wear his new "cat costume" that I whipped up last night. Saturday (2:00)  making the total 28 and counting... It was just Will and me again, like this morning.  Miss Cheryl and her daughter Mason met us there again.  Cheryl and I discuss a plan for getting together later.  Cheryl and Masy are heading to the park and have invited us to go.  Will is very excited.  I had to put the events of the day in order so he would check them off of his imaginary to do list. Next on the list is Mass at St. Therese, then the park!  Oh boy! Miss Cheryl and Mason meet us at church for Mass and then we head to the park.   Mason's Dad is going too! Will LOVED the park!!! ...
