Dives 38 & 39-- The Final day at the gym!

MeMe got to our apartment around 4:00 yesterday afternoon.  It didn't take Will long to engage her in a game! Today is Izzy's birthday! (Josie's big sister)  Will and I gave her a present this morning before the dive.  She was so thankful and gracious.  She is such a sweet girl.  Look at that face! Happy Birthday Izzy! Dive #38 Mickey Mouse was playing before the door shut again today and Miss Josie was a happy girl!  I think Mr. Will might actually miss her squeals.   Day 15 Here we are, the final day at the gym.  It seems like we just got here.  Will has made some tremendous progress!  He had a pretty full day but I'm only going to post 3 videos.  He warmed up, knee walked, scooted, played with trains, stood a lot and walked with his canes a lot.  I would like to focus on the standing and walking, because that part is my favorite! As you probably figured out by now Mr. Will is going to be a movie di...

Dives 35 & 36--Day 14 at the gym

Dive #35 This morning once again, we waited to put Josie's collar on her.  It didn't matter, just as I thought, she started crying when the chamber door closed!  Little stinker!  ;)  Of course her friend Will started crying too.  Oh goodness!  Luckily Josie stopped pretty quickly.  Will, on the other hand took some flower candle breathing to get over it.  Once the oxygen went on he finally settled down. Day 14 Miss Tiffany wasn't feeling the best today so we took it a little easy.  A little more hands off, as in off of Will!  She did her best not to touch him too much and then went home after his session to rest.  I hope she feels better tomorrow! Bike riding is pretty hands off!   When we went back inside, I helped Will off the bike and then we were just talking.  Suddenly he was standing, doing his TaDa's.  Tiffany turned on the camera and here goes! Will was loving standing up with me.  We di...

Dives 33 & 34-Day 12 Wacky Wednesday!

Dive #33 It's just Will and Josie this morning.  Miss Josie is figuring this out (her little brain is working!!).  Today she started crying the minute we put her collar on.  That's the part the hood attaches to.  We put them on before we even close the door!  She knows what's coming.  That truly is progress!!  :)  Will is very empathic.  He cries along with her.  Oh boy, this could be a long dive!  Luckily once the hoods go on, they both calm down.  Phew! Day 12- Wacky Wednesday That means different things, namely that Miss Tiffany changes the order of some exercises.  This morning Tiffany left her phone at her house.  While Will got started, I volunteered to go get it for her.  Will was very concerned about the angle of the video camera.  I swear one day he's going to be a movie director! Next is picking up bowling pins with his barefeet on the scooter.  He's really getting the hang of this. ...

Dives #31 & #32--Day 11 at the gym

Dive #31 This morning went well.  Will and Josie watched Mickey Mouse, happily and Mr. Austin slept.  I got some reading in and life is good! Day 11 Today had some lows but also some very nice highs!  Will started off strong with some nice bridges. He got the rest of his warm ups in and moved on to knee walking.  He's still improving on this. Next was the scooter, barefoot.  Remember when he started this last week.  Miss Tiffany had to give him a little help from behind and he barely made it anywhere.  Check him out now! Now this is the part of the day that fell apart.  Mr, Will had a little melt down.  I'm not sure what happened exactly, but I can tell that he definitely recovered!  He did a couple flower/candles and then some fantastic work! Pretty great huh!  Oh wait...there's more!  Miss Tiffany got out some new tools.  Plunger Poles!  They look a little silly, but check out what Will does...

The last week!!! Dive #29, #30 and Day 10 at the gym

We had a great weekend visit from the rest of our family.  Phil brought the kids and the dog up on Friday evening and they left Sunday afternoon.  We had a few meals out and some time at the pool.  I got a break from the spaceship while Phil took the boys.  That's right, I said boys.  Ben, our oldest son joined Will in the spaceship this weekend.  He hurt his ankle in an 4 wheeler accident last week.  A trip to the ER said it was a sprain.  HBOT can heal sprains and fractures 63% faster.  Since they were already planning a trip to KC, we thought we would see what the oxygen could do for him. Happy Boy!   Dinner at Stone Canyon Pizza My other babies! Girl time at the movie.  We saw B.F.G. Will, Ben and Austin in the spaceship! All done! Waiting for Ice Cream! Our friends The Motley's were in town for a softball tournament, so we met for lunch! Our happy Family!! Dive #29 This dive w...

Dive 24 &25--Day 10 at the gym

Dive #24 Will slept in this morning.  We got in a little late last night.  I dressed him in his clothes last night for bed so this morning I could just pick him up and bring him to the spaceship.  Miss Josie got upset this morning.  She cried quite a bit and pretty soon...Mr. Will was crying too!  Poor guy.  Finally after a few flower candles I got Will settled down and the rest of the ride was quiet. Day 10 Today was definitely Friday Fun day!  Miss Tiffany was out with us last night too so we were all ready for a laid back day!  Will did his warm ups.  Here is the popcorn one. Today Will put his socks on all by himself without anyone around.  He was quite proud of himself! Will played with the trains and did some knee walking.  Then Miss Tiffany had another fun idea.  Ride the bike!  Will takes off toward the bike. The last time we were, here Will learned to ride the trike.  He loved it!  T...

Dive 23 & 24--Day 9

Dive #23 After my conversation with Will (last night), he was excited to help Josie by choosing the Mickey Mouse movie for the dive.  He choose a new Minnie Mouse one that we haven't seen yet and Josie was happy the whole time.  Mr. Austin and Miss Julie were there too. Day 9 Will started off with the scooter again.  He's getting pretty good at pulling himself around with his bare feet.  Next we did our warm-up exercises.  He like dead bugs.  He usually starts with that one. We head upstairs, Wills choice, to work on the "big stairs" and climb into the tractor tire.  On the way back down the hallway instead of cruising he marched with high knees.  His little legs are pretty tired at this point! Today Miss Tiffany thought she would have Will cruise in the entry area of the gym.  He doesn't care for cruising in the gym but likes to do it in the hallway upstairs.  Let's see how this new area goes. He did pretty well unt...

Dive 21 & 22--Day 8 at the gym

Dive #21 Will got plenty of sleep last night so I am hoping for a great day!  This morning we are diving with Mr. Austin and his mom Julie and Miss Josie and her Grandma Linda.  Will has some apple slices and his muffins.  Everything is good! Day 8 This morning Will is back on the scooter.  Today with a new task of knocking over bowling pins and picking them up with his feet! After that we all do the warm-up exercises.  Will does some of them barefoot, but then has to put his shoes on for the crab.  Usually Tiffany puts his socks and shoes on but today Will gives it a try! Way to go Will!  Boy, if he could start doing that at home it would be one less thing his Dad and I have to do for him! Next is the crab.  Mr. Independant shows us how he can do it "all by my own self". Another thing that they are working on his knee walking.  It makes sense that knee walking would help with independent walking.  I like anything t...

Dive 19 & 20--Day 7 at the gym

Dive #19 This morning I had a dream that I overslept and we missed the dive!  I woke up in a panic.  Thank goodness it was just a dream. This morning we are diving with Mr. Austin and his mom Julie and Miss Josie and her Grandma Linda.  Will is doing really well with Josie's request to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  I'm so glad it's something that he likes.  He does great in the spaceship as long as he's watching tv.  I don't want to find out how he would do without a favorite show! Day 7 (Week 2, day 2) Today was another slow start for Will, honestly, he was kind of like that all day.  This morning Miss Tiffany had some exercises to build the muscles in his feet.  He is pulling up to everything in the apartment and often doesn't have his shoes and orthotics on so she thought it was time to work on those feet a bit. After that is was back to the normal warm-ups.  Superman is one of his favorites.  I have been doing the warm u...

Dives 17 & 18-- Day 6 (day 1 of week 2)

We had a good weekend.  We did 3 dives (thank you Miss Cheryl!)  Yesterday Mr. Will had a playdate with Masy, (Cheryl's daughter).  They had a great time.  We ordered pizza and the kids got to play.  It was awesome hearing them talk to each other and play together.  Will doesn't have many opportunities to play with friends and neither does Masy.  I think they are going to be good buds by the time we leave here! We're planning another playdate very soon! On to today... Dive #17 This morning it's just Mr. Austin and his mom Julie and Will and myself.  Mr. John is trying a deeper dive for his tinnitus.  Will has his snack while we get to our depth and then he settles in with a little Toy Story 3. Day 6 It's already week 2!  Last week went by pretty fast.  Will starts off kinda slow.  It is monday, afterall. He gets started with his warm-ups.  This one is called popcorn! After finishing his warm up exe...

Dives #12 & #13--Day 5 at the gym

Dive 12 We joined the rest of the morning crew and climbed into the spaceship.  Will is relaxed but refreshed this morning.  I hope that sticks around. Day 5 It's the last day of the 1st week.  One week down, 2 more to go.  Today is Friday Fun day, which means...Will and Miss Tiffany get to draw!  (I love how Will keeps bending down to look at Rubble on my phone.) Next, they go through an abbreviated warm up.  Miss Tiffany threw a new one in today. Today Will wanted to do the stairs in the gym.  If you have been with us since the first trip, you might remember how scared he was of these stairs.  Well, I think that memory is still with him because these stairs still bother him.  It's funny because the other stairs (with the tire at the end) are much scarier.  But not to Will.  Today, once he finally got up the stairs he took a break at the top.  The way down was much more fun! I love when Will does something...

Dives #10 & #11--Day 4 at the gym

Dive # 10 Will was ready to go this morning, in fact he climbed in my bed at 6:00 ready to meet the day!  We climbed aboard with Mr. John, Austin and Miss Julie to get #10 started! Day 4 Today was a different day!  I don't know what it is about Wednesdays, but Mr. Will has moved on from that!  He starts the day with some knee walking! It's on to the warm-up exercises.  Miss Tiffany and I warm up with him! Then Tiffany added something new.  Will loved it!  I thought it was pretty fun too! After warm up time, Will heads out the door and onto the elevator to go down the big stairs,  He parks Alfie at the door and cruises over to the stairs.  He's getting pretty good at this! He was pretty proud of that one!  Will proceeded to walk down the stairs, cruise the landing then walk down the other flight, which is where this video picks up... Last time we were here he didn't want to touch that tire, now he's riding it! ...

Dives 8 & 9 - Day 3 at the gym

Ok, before I tell you about the day I wanted to throw in a little disclaimer.  I use youTube to upload my videos.  When the video is not playing they apparently run an ad in it's place.  I have no control over this.  I simply use youTube so you can have better access on your mobile device.  Please don't hold the advertisements against me.  My parents informed me that Hilary Clinton was on my blog! I just wanted to make sure you knew that I had nothing to do with that!  Phew, I feel better now!  :) Dive #8 This morning Will woke up on his own and was ready to go.  We met Mr. John, Austin and his Mom Julie in the spaceship again and we're off! Day 3- The dreaded first Wednesday! This is usually Will's "worst" day at the gym.  I say that loosely because he still did excellent work, but today is harder than the others.  His little muscles are probably a little sore from the work of the past two days and he's just a little slower ...

Dive 6 & 7- Day 2 at the gym

Dive #6 Will was dragging this morning.  It didn't help that it was a rainy morning in KC.  I carried him to the car and he slept until we got to HHI.  He was pretty quiet the whole dive, until the end when he finally started to get lively!  Austin and Miss Julie are back as well as Mr. John. Day 2 at the gym! By the time the dive was over, Will was awake and ready for Miss Tiffany!  Mr. Will is into Paw Patrol (a cartoon on television) right now, so he has requested that they start each morning with a drawing lesson, so to speak.  Yesterday it was the character Chase, today it was Marshall.  Will wishes he could draw like Miss Tiffany. After the drawing lesson, they move onto warm-up exercises.  Dead bugs, Crabs, Popcorn and a new one...look closely at the mirror for the finished drawings! After some walking in the gym, Miss Tiffany and Will decided to head upstairs.  Will walked out the door, in Alfie and hopped in the elev...

Hello HHI...Again! (Dives 4 & 5) Day 1 at the Gym

We're back at Hyberbaric Healing Institute for another 3 week round of Intense Physical Therapy and some great Oxygen while we're here!  Just in case you're new to the blog.  This is our 8th trip for physical therapy and our 6th trip for HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy).  We have seen amazing progress in Will since our first trip 3 years ago.  That is, of course, why we keep coming back for more! We got here Friday evening and checked into our apartment, The Revy!  In the past we have stayed at an extended stay hotel, but that just got a little old so we're trying this out...so far, so good! We were able to get 3 dives (oxygen treatments) in over the weekend which is awesome! Thank you Miss Cheryl! So this morning we headed to HHI for another dive, #4.  We are joined by our friend Austin and his mom Julie.  You may remember we met Austin and his mom last summer when we were here.  Austin learned the hard way that you don't text and drive. ...

Final day of Miss Tiffany's gym. Dives 37 & 38

Happy April Everyone! Dive 37- It's a quiet one again, Just Ms. Sherry, Mr. Kenny, Will and myself.  Will chose Despicable Me (again!) and we're off! Day 15  ~The Final Day~ I know I say this every time, but the time really does fly when we're here.  I can't believe Will finished his last day of 3 weeks today.  Way to go Will! He did some amazing stuff these last 3 weeks and today was no different.  Check him out walking (and scratching) across the room.  Awesome Stuff! His fall was even good!  Slow and controlled.  I'm so proud of how hard he has worked.   These next video are all similar but different too.  You should definitely watch all three of them, completely.  He hasn't even worked on standing with the canes this time and still did amazingly well!  See for yourself! This next one is pretty funny.  You have to listen closely to the conversation between Miss Tiffany and Will right up unti...

Day 14 Dives 35 & 36

Dive 35 This morning it's the normal crew, (minus Mr. Chet).  Ms. Sherrie, Mr. Kenny, Mr. John, Will and myself.  Only 5 more dives to go.  I can't believe how quickly it has gone by.  Will chooses Despicable Me...again!  I'm so glad we have a good group who tolerates Will's movie choices!   Day 14 One more day to go.  That is really hard to believe!  Will has worked so hard and today is no different.  He starts out with his warm up exercises.     and don't forget popcorn! Then onto the bike, Will is loving this new order!  There is a lot to remember when learning to ride a bike.  The biggest frustration for Will is getting stuck and not being able to get going again as quickly as he would like.  We came up with some steps for him to think about to help with his problem solving and to prevent some of his frustration.  Step 1 is try to backup.  Step 2 is use the wall to push off (if...
