Hello Friday!!! Dives 36 and 37

Dive 36- Josie and Will.  Started the day with another dose and oxygen and Mickey Mouse! Our last solo workout in Miss Tiffany's gym.  We skipped the yoga today and went right for the stairs.  Will grabbed his canes and some friends and got started.  As he was walking it occurred to me how often I took for granted when Ben and Isabel went walking across the floor with toys in their hands.  Just think about that for a minute...then watch this video! He carried Mario and Luigi to the stairs.  I carried them up the stairs and then he proceeded to throw them down.  Typical kiddo! After getting hurled down the stairs now poor Mario has to be thrown in a hoop!  Poor guy! He threw all of Mario's friends in the basket too.   Then he made his way across the room to leave Miss Tiffany one last message.  He made it about halfway when he fell, but you know Will, he got right up and finished the job! I think Will enjoy...

It's Thursday of Week 3. Dives 34 & 35

Dive 34 & 35 were the same two kiddos with the same two movies.  Mickey Mouse in the a.m. Cars in the p.m.  😏 In between dives we headed to Miss Tiffany's gym.  Will worked hard again today.  We started out with our yoga again and then in was right to work! This is something that just happened today... Backing up is sometimes necessary!   Now onto some squats!  Beanbag style! Will is pretty proud of his abilities.  (I am too!)  Check him out here! Now let's try to blow some bubbles while standing with poles, considerably harder! This is just a bonus video... Standing on his own didn't go as well today, but I am still really excited about his progress.   This last video is something that Will wanted to try.  He's been on the treadmill in the gym before, but I don't remember if he's ever walked unassisted, I don't think so.  I think last time he used Alfie.  I'm being l...

It's hump day...of the 3rd week! Dives 31 & 32

Dive #31 Will, Josie and Mickey Mouse! After the dive we headed to Miss Tiffany's gym again.  I have a feeling we will be working there for the rest of the week! Let's get the day started with a little yoga! Will is always aware of the video camera.  I set it up and then walked away to grab the poles and this is what happened when I reminded him it was on. Aunt Jess and Uncle Adam sent some M&M's for Will (he does love them!)  I brought some to the gym today for some motivation.   Now on to those pole that I grabbed.  I love these things!  They offer just a bit of help, but not nearly as much as the canes.  He's practically doing it on his own! He's getting a little sugar happy, I think! Check out this progress... Now let's try it on his own.  There were a few takes before this one, but wow, he's so close! Will wanted to try out the trampoline.  Poor guy just can't get those knees to be...

Week 3, Tuesday, Dives 29 & 30

Dive 29- Mr. Will and Josie.  Mickey Mouse, our morning ritual! After the dive Will headed over to Miss Tiffany's gym.  I guess we'll stick around, he likes working in there!  He basically set the whole day up, I only added one thing!  He started himself on the stairs.  I just stood back and filmed! Rock on , Mr. Will! This next thing I added.  The next time you get up from sitting (in a chair for example) think about what all goes into that. I think this will be something he could master when we come back this summer!  By the way, Miss Tiffany will be back for that one!   Back to Will's plan.  He didn't want me to video him getting into position but I thought it showed a lot of good work on Will's part.  Pulling yourself on a scooter is an amazing workout!   Now for the "real" video.  Will set up all the pins and now he is kicking them over, according to his plan! Miss Cheryl poppe...

The Final Week! A fun filled weekend with family and dives 27 &28

Happy Monday!  It's week 3.  We're almost finished.  Will is ready to go home.  He is missing his Daddy, (and he just saw him yesterday!). Phil and the kids came in Friday night and stayed until yesterday afternoon.  We filled the weekend with as much as we could!  Two movies (me and big kids), 3 dives (Will and his daddy), indoor skydiving (Ben and Isabel), and church (together!)!  Together again!  My kiddos!  Will's waving to the camera! All the happy divers...Phil, Grandma Linda, Mason (front and center!) Josie and Will! I had a fun surprise for Ben and Isabel!  Indoor Skydiving!  They LOVED it!  Score one for MOM!  It was fun to watch.  Will said he's going to do it next time!  I might just try it too!   They take you out once to let you figure it out and then give you a second flight to go much higher! The first video shows Isabel's first flight, the instructor said sh...

It's Friday! Week 2 has come to an end! Dives 23 & 24

Dive #23  This morning it was Mr. Will, Miss Josie and Ms. Tweet.  Ms. Tweet has been with us one other time.  I love that her real name is Tweet!  How can you have a bad day with a name like that!  😊  Miss Cheryl just started with Mickey Mouse today.  Let's get this day off to a great start! After the dive Will and I headed next door again.  Warm-ups first of course.  We did all the same ones, but I will just share a couple videos.  You might notice an addition of a new stuffed friend in a few of the shots.  It's a blue Yoshi, he was in Will's package from Daddy last night! After the warm-ups, (even the plop on the belly) Will headed to the stairs via his canes.  He walked up the stairs and then was about to come back down when Mr, Mike (Miss Cheryl's hubby) came by with Miss Mason.  Will LOVES Mr. Mike.  He was happy to perform! Next, Mason's Aunt and a friend of hers popped by.  N...

Thusday of week 2, dives 21 & 22

Dive #21 Josie, Will and Mr. Mark were on board this morning.  We started with Home, (Will's pick this time) but about 20 minutes into the dive Miss Josie started to disagree.  Miss Cheryl took the cue and changed it to Mickey Mouse...Miss Josie knows what she wants!  After Mickey's voice came on, the tears turned off!  Mr. Will was fine with the change and the rest of the dive was pretty quiet. After the dive we came back to the Rezzi and had a late breakfast.  Then we worked on some math, telling time specifically.  We watched a couple telling time videos on youTube and took turns adjusting our paper clock to different times, both hour and half-hour.  After that we didn't do much! The therapist in me was feeling lazy!  I let Will play Mario Bros for awhile and I cleaned up the kitchen.  Finally I decided we had to do something!  We went down to the front desk, checked out a basketball and headed outside. Will has been playing (wor...

Wednesday- week 2- dives 19 & 20

Dive # 19 Will, Josie and Mark!  He watched Mickey Mouse, Miss Cheryl's pick.  A safe bet for the morning dive! After the dive we decided to stick around and head next door to the gym.  Cheryl told me we were welcome to use it, but I haven't chosen to until now.  Will thought it would be fun to "workout" in there.  He even wanted to start with the old exercises... and a new one that I threw in.. After that we headed to the stairs. Will walked from the blue mat to the stairs using his canes then he climbed up the stairs, played with the Barney toy at the top (just like the old days!) then came down the other side.  Then I had a different idea. and back down... Next we went to another gym favorite, the monkey beanbags!  Will had the idea to walk over to the hoop throw a monkey and then "squat" down and get another one.  By all means... He went through 5 monkeys.  He fell a handful of times, but in his usual...

Week 2- Tuesday, Dive #17 and #18

Dive 17- Mr. Will, Josie, Mark and the two helpers (Grandma Linda and yours truly!)  We watched Home (again) and settled back for the ride. After the dive Will and I headed back to the Rezzi.  Grabbed a quick breakfast and then got to work.  Will really likes to climb the stairs so that's where we headed. He's getting pretty good at handling these stairs.  He got to the 4th level in no time!  Let's stop and play a bit! There was a time (not long ago) that Will would have fallen flat on his backside trying to hide in the curtains.  I'm so glad he can have a little fun with our therapy session! Now on to the canes.  These next videos are a little lengthy, but I think they're totally worth it!  As I said in the beginning, the reason I'm doing therapy at the Rezzi is so we can have some interactions with people.  Will did awesome with this one! Now the transition to the elevator... He nailed it!  What a fabulous att...

Week 2, Monday, Dives #15 & #16

Hello my friends!  Welcome back to week 2!  Today Will was dragging a little bit. The dives went well.  A lighter crowd this morning, just Josie and Will.  Will requested the movie Home.  I think Grandma Linda liked it too! After the morning dive we went back to the Rezzi.  We missed breakfast this morning so I whipped some eggs up for myself and some fruit for Mr. Will (he already had his chocolate chip muffins in the spaceship!).  After that I suggested we get to work!  Will had other ideas.  He wanted to play Mario Bros on the Wii U.  Hmmm.  Before I had breakfast cleaned up he was on the video game.  I let him play for a few minutes and then told him we needed to make some videos. I decided to get Miss Tiffany's stickers out and let Will decorate the sliding door.  That's what he did. I decided this was just too easy.  I grabbed the canes to kick it up a level. Still pretty easy stuff. (boy has th...

Friday- Week one comes to an end. Dives #10-13

Hello there~ when the weekend rolls around I usually give myself a break on the blogging.  I didn't get around to posting yesterday and I really want to share these videos so I am hopping on here today to share them with you! Dives 10 and 11 went well.  They are much nicer now that Josie enjoys them!  Last summer was a different story! After the morning dive Will and I went back to the Rezzi to get some PT in.  This kid amazes me!  The videos are a little long and not the best angle (solo job!) but they are worth watching.  We started out in Alfie in the room.  Will walked up the hilly hallway to get to the stairway.  He parked Alfie at the bottom of floor one and started climbing.  I grabbed his canes hoping to incorporate them in this adventure!  He flew up the 4 levels without any trouble.  (I really hope he remembers how easy this is once we get home!) After he made it to the 4th level, he cruised the wall over to the doorwa...

Thursday- 1st week Dives 8 & 9

Dive # 8 The crew is back!  Mr. Will, Miss Josie, Mr. Ron, Mr. Doug, Mr. Mark and Grandma Linda and myself.  We watched Mickey Mouse and I got some reading in.  Linda and I have some pretty good conversations in that chamber, but today I was missing my reading time.  I started a new book, the last one just didn't grab my attention.  We'll see if this one does the trick! After the dive we headed to Walmart.  I had a few things on my list that I didn't see at Target so I thought I would look here. Mr. Will is becoming quite the shopper.  He requested to push the cart right away.  He had a great time. Look how comfortable he's getting.  He even stops to point out some items he thought were neat.   I love to see him let go of the cart and look so natural doing so!  Watch how he handles this turn.  He's getting to be a pro!  He's also getting to be a pushy director.  He just loves knowing he's on camera...

It's hump day! Wednesday of the first week Dive #6 & #7

Wednesday of the first week is always a little tough, we'll see how today goes... Dive #6 This morning's dive included Mr. Will and Miss Josie, Mr. Ron, Mr. Doug and Linda and myself.  We settled in to Mickey Mouse clubhouse and off we went.  Miss Josie is doing great this time.  I can't believe how much she's has changed since this summer.  She is getting that little girl look instead of the baby face I saw this summer.  I also notice that she has more head control and more intentional movement (at least that's what it looks like to me)!  For those of you who followed me last summer you might remember that Josie is our little friend who has CP.  She cried a lot last summer when she didn't like the movie, but this year she is doing great so far! After the dive Miss Cheryl and I chatted for quite a bit.  I do love that lady!  I really need to snap some video of her interacting with Will.  They have a great time together!  Today ...

Tuesday Dive #4 & #5

This morning's dive was another success.  Will, Josie, Mr. Ron, Mr. Doug, Mr. Mark and Linda and myself.  We watched Trolls again and all was well! After the dive we headed to Target!  I needed to get a few things and Mr. Will needed some therapy in the public eye.  He's a champ at walking in the therapy room but when he's in an environment with lots of stimuli, well, he's kind of a mess!  He really needs blinders on!  There's just too much to look at!  So, while we're here and I am the therapist, I plan on having a lot of public therapy sessions.  I only had my cellphone for the video so I apologize in advance for the choppy scenes. We started out walking in Alfie.  We're in the wide aisle of the store so not much to avoid.  Plus it was a pretty quiet part of the morning so not many people to avoid either.   Then he turned and headed down a tighter aisle.  He did quite well with this.  Maybe it's because he's on...

Monday Morning Dive #2 & #3

We started at HHI at 7:30 this morning.  Josie was there again with her amazing Grandparents and we met some new friends, Mr. Ron, Mr. Doug and Mr. Mark.  We watched Mickey Mouse clubhouse, dive 2 was a success.  Well for the kids anyway.  I think the guys liked watching their guy movies better!  The kids have taken control of the television! When we got back to the Rezzi (to our 2nd room) it was time to get to work!  Mr. Will got in Alfie (his gait trainer) and we headed down the hallway.  I think the Rezzi is going to make for a pretty good therapy location.  The hallway has two pretty good inclines.  Will struggled with them today but did manage.  I look forward to seeing progress with this!  Oh, by the way, since I'm playing the part of the therapist, Meme is playing the part of the videographer!  (She's new at this!) After we walked down the hallway, up two "hills" we made it to the stairs.  Will was excit...

Another trip to Kansas City!

Hello friends... to quote my little guy Will!  You will no doubt know what I'm talking about very soon. We arrived in KC Saturday afternoon.  Meme came along too!  We got checked in our room (well, the first one), grabbed some dinner at Jason's Deli and settled in for the night. This trip is going to be a little different.  Miss Tiffany has moved on to work for a local school district.  We will miss her but understand her decision.  HHI hasn't found a replacement for her yet so this trip will be solely Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.  We totally think HBOT alone is worth the trip so we decided to come anyway.  So because there is not a therapist at HHI, I have decided to act as the therapist for this trip! Sunday morning...We went down to the lounge area for breakfast. Will walked down in Alfie and went through the line to see what was available.  He likes to be independent when we're here so we're going to really work on that this time aroun...
