Day 14 Dives 35 & 36

Dive 35 This morning it's the normal crew, (minus Mr. Chet).  Ms. Sherrie, Mr. Kenny, Mr. John, Will and myself.  Only 5 more dives to go.  I can't believe how quickly it has gone by.  Will chooses Despicable Me...again!  I'm so glad we have a good group who tolerates Will's movie choices!   Day 14 One more day to go.  That is really hard to believe!  Will has worked so hard and today is no different.  He starts out with his warm up exercises.     and don't forget popcorn! Then onto the bike, Will is loving this new order!  There is a lot to remember when learning to ride a bike.  The biggest frustration for Will is getting stuck and not being able to get going again as quickly as he would like.  We came up with some steps for him to think about to help with his problem solving and to prevent some of his frustration.  Step 1 is try to backup.  Step 2 is use the wall to push off (if...

Day 13 Dives 33 & 34

Dive 33 This morning was a lighter crew, no Mr. Chet.  We still had Ms. Sherrie and Mr. Kenny and Mr. John though!  Will choose Doc McStuffins, the first time in a few days.  I sat back with my book and my journal and off we go! Day 13 It's Wacky Wednesday!  Miss Tiffany had the idea of switching the order of everything today.  Great idea!  Will loves the bike and he gets to start with that!  Yay! Off of the bike and on to the canes... Then we ventured back upstairs, but this time in Zipper (wheelchair) to try out some new stairs.  Notice Will is just chatting up a storm and not worrying about the stairs!  Progress!! There was also a chance to do a bit of cruising while in the area! (talk about progress..go back to the first visit!) I think he only got a little worried one time while on the stairs today.  Awesome work Will! Back at the gym he still did most of the other things.  Then he...

Day 13 Dives 31 & 32

Dive 31 This morning is was back to the normal group.  Will and myself along with Ms. Sherrie, Mr. Kenny, Mr. Chet and Mr. John.  Will chose Home for the movie.  It was a pretty easy dive, everyone is used to the routine!  I got to sit back and journal and then start a new book. Day 13 Will got started right away with his warm-up exercises.  He's getting pretty good at them!  Then he moved on to the bolster.  He's making progress on this too.  Notice that Miss Tiffany has her legs crossed today instead of putting her feet on Will's feet to steady him.  Yay!  I love progress! Next Will pushes the weighted shopping cart across the floor to the yellow brick road where the scooter is waiting.  He climbs onto the scooter and takes off! Today, Miss Tiffany raises the bar.  Will is taking his Minion friends for a ride to the blue mat...on the scooter.  Scooting on carpet is much harder than tile.  Go Will G...

Day 11 Dives 29 & 30

Dive 29 Daddy got to do this one with Will.  Phil gave me the morning off!  They joined Mr. John, Mr. Chet, Mr. Kenny and Ms. Sherrie for a morning dive. Day 11 Phil stayed with Will while I enjoyed a slow moving morning at the Rezzi with Ben and Isabel.  They slept in while I enjoyed a nice breakfast.  Then after she got up and had breakfast, Isabel and I ran to Michael's craft store before heading to the gym.  Will was getting ready to push the cart when we got there. After he made it across the room is was time to sit on the scooter and knock down some pins.  Here's how that transition looks... Will enjoys knocking down the pins.  They have little faces on them and he likes to see the faces before he kicks them down.  Should I be worried?! Will felt like singing today...Sorry buddy, not while you're scooting! Now for throwing bean bag animals.  I had a guest camera-girl today, Will's sister.  Enjoy this...

The Weekend

The weekend... Phil and the kids came up Saturday afternoon around 1:30.  We were so excited to see them.  It was a rainy day in Kansas City.  We skipped the Easter Egg Hunt with our friend Masy because of the rain.  So we were just hanging out at the Rezzi when they drove up! Easter Sunday The Easter Bunny found us!   The kids sampled some of their chocolate and then we got ready for brunch!  We met Mr. Chet, Ms. Cindi and Matthew and Walter for brunch at the Santa Marta Retirement Community in Olathe, KS.  Mr. Chet just happens to run the place!  They were very gracious hosts to our family.  Brunch was delicious!  There was so much food, you couldn't possibly try it all.  After we finished eating Mr. Chet gave us a tour.  The community was beautiful.  Nothing like any retirement facility I have ever seen.  Thank you for your hospitality Surmaczewicz Family! After brunch we headed back to T...

Day 10, Dives 25 & 26

Happy Friday Everyone! Dive 25- This morning is a light crowd.  Only Ms. Sherrie and Mr. Kenny and Will and Myself.  Will requested Despicable Me.  I spent some time with my journal and my book.  Another dive in the books! Day 10 It's the end of week 2.  Only 1 more week to go.  Will has made some really good progress this trip so far.  I am impressed with his scooting and his cart pushing.  His cane walking is starting to really look nice too.  Of course the bike is just fun!  Will loves it and he's picking up Tiffany's comments and directions pretty quickly. I have lots of video that I could post again, but I am just going to pick one very awesome one to leave you with today.  Check out this little walker!! I hope that one is good enough to keep you coming back next week! Dive 26 Mr. Kenny and Ms. Sherrie are back.  Will and myself and Cheryl's daughter Mason!  She is off school today so she hopped in wit...

Day 9 Dives 23 & 24

Dive 23 Waking up early is becoming routine for Mr. Will.  I'm hoping it doesn't cause him problems in the gym! This morning it's just Mr. John, Ms. Sherrie and Mr. Kenny and Will and myself.  Feels like an empty spaceship compared to the usual crowd.  I don't even think Will requested a movie.  Miss Cheryl popped in Minions and off we went!  Will ate breakfast at the Rezzi so I didn't think to bring a snack in with us.  I realized it right after Cheryl started the pressurization.  Yikes! Will did surprisingly well without his ear popping food!  Yay! Day 9 The day starts off with the usual warm-up exercises.  Here's a dead bug for you. He did his other warm ups too.  Then moved to the bolster...barefoot today! Next a little pass the peanut ball game.  Will likes this! He didn't like that last one, but Miss Tiffany and I did.  He just doesn't realize how good it was!  After that he gets a little ...

Day 8 Dives 21 &22

Dive 21 This morning Will was up at 6:25am.  That is very early for him!  I'm a little worried about the gym today. The dive goes well.  It's Mr. Kenny and Ms. Sherrie, Mr. John, Mr. Richard and Ms. Maria and Will and myself.  Will was happy and ready to go!  Doc is back on the television. Day 8 at the gym As I mentioned Will woke up early!  His energy in the beginning was good.  Check out the warm up exercises.  He's getting the hang of them! The bolster went better today too. Now on to the stairs.  Will claims to love the stairs these days.  The only problem is it takes him awhile to do them so it eats up at big chunk of time.  Today I wondered if a timer might help.  I think it did...a bit. After that it just got ugly.  Will got scared standing up at the big mirror again.  No amount of flower/candle breathing got him through it.  I can't share it with you.  It's just too sad. ...

Day 7 at the gym, Dives 19 & 20

Dive #19 Good Morning!  Will was up again this morning (on his own), had some yogurt and even did a little coloring before heading out the door!  He was excited in the spaceship this morning.  It was a full ship too!  Mr. Chet, Miss Maria and Mr. Richard, Mr. John, Miss Sherrie and Mr. Kenny and Will and myself!  We watched Despicable Me.  John asked Will if he was sure he didn't want to watch Doc!  :) Day 7 So, all that energy that Will had this morning is dwindling quickly!  I think an early snack is in the future!   Will starts off with his typical warm-up as well as a new little stretch... who needs a therapist anyway! Next on to the bolster...or off the bolster... Poor guy, just really wants to be able to talk!  One day he'll be able to sit on that bolster without thinking so much about it!   After he finished working on his balance sitting on the bolster, he got to practice his balance rolling it! ...

Week 2 Dive 17 & 18--Day 6 at the Gym

We had a nice relaxing weekend.  Got a few dives in but not much else.  We went to our "church away from church" for Palm Sunday mass but that was about the extent of our weekend. Dive #17 Will woke up by himself at 7:10 and requested Peanut Butter toast for breakfast!  This boy is ready for week 2! This morning it is Mr. Chet, Miss Maria and Richard , Will and myself.  Will watched the movie Home in our hotel room over the weekend and he thought it would be a good one for the spaceship.  It's a shame John isn't here to enjoy a Doc-free dive! Day 6 at Miss Tiffany's gym Will was ready to go this morning!  Let's get warmed up! On to another warm up/balance exercise.  Remember, Mr. Will has a very hard time with balance.  He has to think about keeping his body in check and it's especially hard for him to remember to keep his feet on the floor.  Imagine if you had that problem... Next Will went to the stairs, he's getting bet...

It's Friday! Day 5 of the gym and Dives 11 & 12

Good Morning!  Will actually woke up by himself this morning.  A sure sign that he got enough sleep last night! Dive 11 This morning it's Mr. John, Mr. Chet, Will and myself.  The guys are talking politics, then switch to comparing work stories.  They find they have much in common.  Funny how that happens in the oxygen chamber.  I've met some very good friends in here!  Will is thrilled that he gets to watch Doc McStuffins again. (I have to get out this weekend and look for another Doc dvd!)  John has the episodes memorized by now!  Mr. Chet is really hoping for Minions next dive.  (I'll see what I can do!) Day 5- One week down, two to go! This morning Will had an idea of what he wanted to do. It's nice when he starts off with energy!  Now on to the traditional warm-up...dead bug, popcorn and a little yoga stretching. A much more coordinated, happy boy! Next Will pushed the shopping cart over to th...

Day 4, Dive #10

First let me point out there is no dive before the gym today.  Why you ask...I set my alarm for PM!!!  Ok, let me explain...Yesterday when we were leaving the gym for the day, we pulled into the Rezzi parking lot and parked the car.  I went around to get Will out of his seat and put him in zipper when the phone that he was holding crashed onto the pavement.  Yes, that would be my phone and now it would be shattered!  Off to the AT&T store we go! Fast forward to this morning.   I set my alarm for 6:30.  I actually woke up at 6:24, ahh a few more minutes before the alarm goes off.  The next time I woke up 7:48!  12 minutes before the dive!  I rushed around the hotel room trying to get out the door.  I had every light on and was making all kinds of noise when suddenly I noticed that Will was sleeping very soundly through all of it!  This boy must be tired!  I decide to let him sleep.  I call Miss Cheryl to let her k...

Day 3- Dives 8 & 9

Dive #8 Another morning of dragging Will out of bed.  This time change is making getting to bed early a little tricky! John is there when we get there and soon Chet and Matthew walk in the door.  Did I tell you that I found out that Cindy and Chet are married and Walter and Matthew are their kids.  A family of divers!  Cindy and Chet are diving for specific reasons, but they loved what the oxygen was doing to them and decided their boys could benefit too!  See, oxygen is good for everyone! We all settle in with some good ole Doc McStuffins and off we go! Day 3 Holy cow.  I'm am blown away with Will's progress since we were here last time.  He is making very quick gains this week.  I think it's just all coming together with all the work he's done back at home and school since our last trip here in July.  But then the new stuff, wait until you see how far he's come on the bike!  We definitely have to get one of those! First more t...

Day 2 at the gym, dives 6&7

Dive #6- Will was super hard to get out of bed this morning.  In fact, after several failed attempts I finally just picked him up and put him in the car!  He ate breakfast in the spaceship (which in normal, helps with the ear popping!), but I must admit we didn't brush teeth before we went!  Yikes! It was just Will and Mr. Chet this morning.  Mr. Chet slept and Will was free to watch Doc McStuffins again.  I kicked back with my book and journal...a girl could get used to this! Day 2 at the Gym... So yesterday Will got a little scared when doing some standing.  Remember his balance is very poor and it probably is pretty terrifying to him to stand with his hands up against the wall...even though he's done this many times before.  Last night when we got back to the Rezzi I had a little talk with him.  I told him that it's ok to be scared, but when you get scared I want you to stop and smell the flowers.  I held up my fist with an imaginary ...

Day 1 at Miss Tiffany's gym Dives 4 & 5

Dive #4 Will and I got to the spaceship this morning and met our "chamber mates".  Mr. John and Mr. Chet would be joining us this morning.  I hope they like Doc McStuffins!  As we were getting ready to get in the spaceship who should come in the gym door but Jordyn!  Will met Jordyn, gosh, like 3 or 4 trips ago.  Jordyn is a year older than Will and also loves Minions!  Will loves to watch Jordyn work in the gym.  I hope he gets to do that again this trip!  Jordyn went to Miss Tiffany's side and Will and climbed aboard the spaceship.  We cued up Doc (the movie choice of the dive) and settled in.  Mr. Chet slept most of the dive but Mr, John enjoyed Doc McStuffins.  He said it was pretty cute.  I read my book and did my "journaling" for the morning.  All is well! Day 1 at Miss Tiffany's gym. Will has been excited to see Miss Tiffany since we pulled into Kansas City.  He pushed Zipper (wheelchair) over to her side o...

Back for more!

Friday... We pulled into Kansas City around 8:30 Friday night.  Will and I were both excited to be here after driving.  He was very excited to see "The Rezzi" our home away from home.  We checked into our same room (I always request it, close to front desk and easy to unload the car), and settled in! Saturday... We got started with the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber (we call it the spaceship) Saturday morning. The first dive went off without a hitch!  Will has a little cold and I was anxious that the pressure would really bother his ears.  I mentioned this to The Amazing Miss Cheryl so she took it really slow and stopped to check on him as well.  Boy, she sure is great! Between dives we relaxed for a bit then ran to the nearby HyVee and grabbed some groceries. Dive #2 We met Miss Cheryl at the spaceship for another dive.  We so fortunate to be able to get some dives in on the weekends.  The goal is 40 dives over the next 3 weeks, which would...
