Dive #21
Will got plenty of sleep last night so I am hoping for a great day! This morning we are diving with Mr. Austin and his mom Julie and Miss Josie and her Grandma Linda. Will has some apple slices and his muffins. Everything is good!
Day 8
This morning Will is back on the scooter. Today with a new task of knocking over bowling pins and picking them up with his feet!
After that we all do the warm-up exercises. Will does some of them barefoot, but then has to put his shoes on for the crab. Usually Tiffany puts his socks and shoes on but today Will gives it a try!
Way to go Will! Boy, if he could start doing that at home it would be one less thing his Dad and I have to do for him!
Next is the crab. Mr. Independant shows us how he can do it "all by my own self".
Another thing that they are working on his knee walking. It makes sense that knee walking would help with independent walking. I like anything that moves us toward that ultimate goal!
Will moves on to the train yard. He has to build the train before it can go on the track. He's getting better about standing up tall when transferring the trains. It helps to use the video camera as a incentive!
It's time to go upstairs to do some work on the "big stairs". While Miss Tiffany is in the powder room Will and I make a break for it!
He was so happy to beat her. She was surprised that we made it all the way upstairs. Once we were upstairs Will climbed down the stairs and found the tractor tire again. He climbed inside and this happened.
After he climbed back up the stairs he cruised all the way down the hallway, even further than he has before!
By the time we got back downstairs to the gym it was time to get in the spaceship! What a hard worker this kid is!
Dive #22
Miss Josie, and Grandma Linda, Mr. Austin and mom Julie, Mr. Jeremy and then myself and Mr. Will. Mr. Will and I eating our lunch in there once again. Oh well, it does help your ears pop. Today we are watching Toy Story 3. We thought Miss Josie might like it. We were diving along and all of a sudden Josie lets out a squeal! Apparently she does not like Toy Story! I told Will that we might have to change the movie to Mickey Mouse. He said ok. But then after Mickey Mouse started I looked at Will and his little lip is quivering. I know that he is about to cry. I started rubbing his leg and trying to reassure him, but it didn't work. He started sobbing, body shaking sobbing. I'm not sure he understood that I meant we were going to switch the movie right away. That, with the combination of Josie's loud cry and he just couldn't keep it in any longer. My heart broke. I picked him up and put him on my lap. He sobbed the rest of the time. I think he was just so tired from working so hard in the gym that he just couldn't keep it together. Josie did calm down for the big Mouse and all was well. Sorta!
Later tonight after Will's bath I had a little talk with him about the situation. I asked him if he knew that Miss Josie didn't have words (she's non-verbal). He said, really?! I said, that means we can't ask her to see what movie she wants to watch. We know she doesn't like Toy Story but we also know that she DOES like Mickey Mouse. He said, " I like Mickey Mouse too." I said Great! I told him that he could Be Josie's helper by choosing which Mickey Mouse movie to watch each time. He thought that sounded like a great idea! I love this kid!
