Dive #3 and #4, Day 2 at the gym

We had a little bit of excitement last night in the KC area.  The sky was a little ominous and opened up and dumped lots of rain in some areas here.  Luckily here at the Rezzi (aka the Residence Inn) we didn't get it too bad.  Mom and I took turns looking out the window, but never got that worked up about it.
Moving on to dive #3...It's Mr. Austin and his mom again and Will and myself.  It's a pretty quiet dive.  Will watched Doc McStuffins and Austin mostly slept.  I wrote in my journal and read the first of my many books I brought along.  At the end of the dive it gets cold, especially for me...I'm always cold!  The next thing I know Austin, who was sitting next to me, handed me a blanket to use.  He is such a sweet guy.  His Mom said he's always been like that and she's glad the accident didn't change his personality.

Day 2 at the gym...
Miss Tiffany was ready for us today!  She had Will do quite a few things.  He was happy to work in the gym!  First they started with Will sitting on the bench playing catch with her.  This is no easy thing for Will.  He has to keep his balance on the bench and then be ready for the ball coming toward him.  If you know Will, you know that it takes him a few seconds to process information whether that is "Hi, how are you" or hey, there's a ball coming toward you.  He did a great job of handling this exercise.  He didn't catch the ball every time but he's much better than the last time we played catch!

After the awesome game of catch, Tiffany took the opportunity to get a little floor exercise in.  Go Will!

Raise the rump!

Now for the Thera-Suit!  Will didn't wear this last time (March) when were here because he was spending so much time on his knees.  I'm excited to see him in it again...I think he was too...

The next thing was ladder walking.  This is a fancy tool that Captain David made to work on proper gait movements.  We pick up our feet and put them back down without thinking, but Will sometimes takes big steps and other times barely takes a step.  This is a tool that will help him realize the correct distance between his steps.

Will kicked down bowling pins while he was in Alfie too.  Then he moved on to the cage.  First Tiffany started with just a couple bungees holding him up...Will did the rest!

Ok, sorry about all the videos.  I told you they worked on a lot today!
Next, Tiffany attached a few more bungees to Will for some more support then challenged him to take his hands off.  Will and his Daddy have a little dance they do at home, here's a little glimpse!

Then out comes the ball again.  This time Mom is throwing...poor Will!

Now for the grand finale...Just when Will was about to fade away (he was tired today), out come the walking canes!

A pretty full day for Mr. Will.  I'm pretty darn proud of him!

Dive #4
It's the same crew from this morning.  Miss Dawn is taking a break for a couple days so it was just Austin again.  He slept the whole time leaving Will to enjoy Doc by himself!  Austin's mom and I talked for a few minutes.  They travel around and talk to high school kids about the dangers of texting and driving.  Austin used to attend college on a soccer scholarship.  He used to out drive his dad on the golf course.  All of that changed in an instant when he was 19 years old and now at 25 he struggles to say the simplest words.  His dream was to swim with sharks....one day Mr. Austin!

A few minutes after returning to the Rezzi there was a knock on the door.  My wonderful husband and kids back home sent us an edible bouquet!  Yum!  It is just perfect.  Thank you Honey for being so thoughtful!

The Final Week! A fun filled weekend with family and dives 27 &28

Happy Monday!  It's week 3.  We're almost finished.  Will is ready to go home.  He is missing his Daddy, (and he just saw him yesterday!). Phil and the kids came in Friday night and stayed until yesterday afternoon.  We filled the weekend with as much as we could!  Two movies (me and big kids), 3 dives (Will and his daddy), indoor skydiving (Ben and Isabel), and church (together!)!  Together again!  My kiddos!  Will's waving to the camera! All the happy divers...Phil, Grandma Linda, Mason (front and center!) Josie and Will! I had a fun surprise for Ben and Isabel!  Indoor Skydiving!  They LOVED it!  Score one for MOM!  It was fun to watch.  Will said he's going to do it next time!  I might just try it too!   They take you out once to let you figure it out and then give you a second flight to go much higher! The first video shows Isabel's first flight, the instructor said sh...

Hello Friday!!! Dives 36 and 37

Dive 36- Josie and Will.  Started the day with another dose and oxygen and Mickey Mouse! Our last solo workout in Miss Tiffany's gym.  We skipped the yoga today and went right for the stairs.  Will grabbed his canes and some friends and got started.  As he was walking it occurred to me how often I took for granted when Ben and Isabel went walking across the floor with toys in their hands.  Just think about that for a minute...then watch this video! He carried Mario and Luigi to the stairs.  I carried them up the stairs and then he proceeded to throw them down.  Typical kiddo! After getting hurled down the stairs now poor Mario has to be thrown in a hoop!  Poor guy! He threw all of Mario's friends in the basket too.   Then he made his way across the room to leave Miss Tiffany one last message.  He made it about halfway when he fell, but you know Will, he got right up and finished the job! I think Will enjoy...

Week 3, Tuesday, Dives 29 & 30

Dive 29- Mr. Will and Josie.  Mickey Mouse, our morning ritual! After the dive Will headed over to Miss Tiffany's gym.  I guess we'll stick around, he likes working in there!  He basically set the whole day up, I only added one thing!  He started himself on the stairs.  I just stood back and filmed! Rock on , Mr. Will! This next thing I added.  The next time you get up from sitting (in a chair for example) think about what all goes into that. I think this will be something he could master when we come back this summer!  By the way, Miss Tiffany will be back for that one!   Back to Will's plan.  He didn't want me to video him getting into position but I thought it showed a lot of good work on Will's part.  Pulling yourself on a scooter is an amazing workout!   Now for the "real" video.  Will set up all the pins and now he is kicking them over, according to his plan! Miss Cheryl poppe...
