Day 2 at the gym, Dives 6 & 7

Dive #6 went well.  We had a new diving buddy this morning.  A older lady who was a doctor.  Will introduced her to Doc McStuffins (of course!).  The dive/space flight went well.  I think Doc Judy liked Doc McStuffins!

Day 2 at the gym was full of new things!  Will had a great day trying out some different activities.  I have selected some of my favorites to share with you!

One of my suggestions to Miss Tiffany was what I call the Mowgli walk.  You know, the boy from The Jungle Book who walks on his hands and feet like a bear (which is apparently what it's really called, the bear walk).  Will gets up on his hands and feet quite a bit at home, but doesn't move.  I thought it would be a good way for him to get around instead of crawling everywhere.  Tiffany agreed!
Isn't that cool!  He said it was hard work, but by the time he made it to the table and back he was getting much better at it!

He Mowgli walked to the table to have a snack, which he had standing up against the table.  Then Miss Tiffany had him do this activity.  For those of you who have been following Will's KC trips, this is pretty amazing progress.  If you haven't seen those video or want to go back and look, please do!  They are on this blog.  Go back to the first session last May.  It's truly remarkable!

Now for my favorite video, 2 actually!  Please forgive the camera work on these, the angle is a little tricky.  Will is walking on a treadmill! How exciting is that!  The treadmill is set up in a cage that allows Will to be "hooked" up to 8 bungees, imagine a spider with 4 sets of 2 legs.  This allows Will to stand without assistance from Tiffany.  He has worked with these bungees and cages before, but never this one...with a TREADMILL!!!  I was silently jumping up and down.  It was pretty cool watching him walk.  He was pretty proud of himself too.  See for yourself!

Then to make it even better, this is what happened next...

Isn't that just the best!  He was so proud and happy!  I loved hearing him say that.  This is going to be one of his goals, so you'll see his improvement over the coming weeks.  Aren't you so excited for that!  That's why we do the fundraising that we do.  This therapy is amazing.  There are so many opportunities for Will here.  Who would have thought he'd be walking on a treadmill!  I love it!

Dive #7 was a quiet one.  We had the spaceship to ourselves.  Will once again watched Doc and when that was over Miss Cheryl surprised him with Mike the Knight!  He was very happy!  The dive went along just fine.  When it was time to take his space helmet off he said "All done? Huzzah!"  For those of you who don't know, that is Mike the Knight talk for Hurray!  It was pretty cute!

The Final Week! A fun filled weekend with family and dives 27 &28

Happy Monday!  It's week 3.  We're almost finished.  Will is ready to go home.  He is missing his Daddy, (and he just saw him yesterday!). Phil and the kids came in Friday night and stayed until yesterday afternoon.  We filled the weekend with as much as we could!  Two movies (me and big kids), 3 dives (Will and his daddy), indoor skydiving (Ben and Isabel), and church (together!)!  Together again!  My kiddos!  Will's waving to the camera! All the happy divers...Phil, Grandma Linda, Mason (front and center!) Josie and Will! I had a fun surprise for Ben and Isabel!  Indoor Skydiving!  They LOVED it!  Score one for MOM!  It was fun to watch.  Will said he's going to do it next time!  I might just try it too!   They take you out once to let you figure it out and then give you a second flight to go much higher! The first video shows Isabel's first flight, the instructor said sh...

Hello Friday!!! Dives 36 and 37

Dive 36- Josie and Will.  Started the day with another dose and oxygen and Mickey Mouse! Our last solo workout in Miss Tiffany's gym.  We skipped the yoga today and went right for the stairs.  Will grabbed his canes and some friends and got started.  As he was walking it occurred to me how often I took for granted when Ben and Isabel went walking across the floor with toys in their hands.  Just think about that for a minute...then watch this video! He carried Mario and Luigi to the stairs.  I carried them up the stairs and then he proceeded to throw them down.  Typical kiddo! After getting hurled down the stairs now poor Mario has to be thrown in a hoop!  Poor guy! He threw all of Mario's friends in the basket too.   Then he made his way across the room to leave Miss Tiffany one last message.  He made it about halfway when he fell, but you know Will, he got right up and finished the job! I think Will enjoy...

Soccer!

Miss Isabel decided she would play soccer this year.  She played when she was in Kindergarten but when 1st grade sign ups came around she said she didn't want to play.  When I asked her why, she said..."It's just too much running!".  Then when sign ups came in second grade, she thought she might like it again.  Well, we signed her up and then she decided that she didn't want to play after all.  Practices hadn't even started yet so we let her quit.  Many of her friends were playing though and I think once the season really got started, she regretted her decision.  So here we are, a year later and  Izzy (as she's starting to use these days) is playing soccer in the third grade!  There is still a lot of running, which she's still not crazy about, but hey...she's playing!
