Day 13- Dives 35 &36

Well- the car is mostly packed and the rest is boxed and ready to load in the morning.  Once again, I can't believe how quickly this time passes.  I am ready to see the rest of my family tomorrow though!

So where to start...

Today was a great day.  Both dives went well.  It's going to be kind of bittersweet tomorrow.  There is nothing fantastic about sitting in that chamber twice a day for 1hr 1/2 but it has been nice spending it with the same people.  Baby Milleigh went home last week but we still have two others with us.  They both have their own story and I admire both of them in different ways.  It has been a better experience because of their company!

Now on the the gym.  My goodness, what a busy day!  Will was able to choose what he wanted to do today, which pleased him very much.  Miss Tiffany gave him choices of course, but even then he went out on his own at times.  I have several video clips that I want to share with you so I'll get right to it.

Will really enjoyed this first exercise.  Tiffany was testing his balance by giving him a slight push.  He gradually got better at staying upright.  Then he decided it was fun to fall every once in awhile!

This next one is a little hard to watch.  Will takes a spill.  The part that is awesome is how he handled it.  He did the same thing earlier in the week and did not respond so well.  This was a remarkable change!

Now, something you're not going to believe.  Last night while Will and I were eating dinner we were talking about his favorite thing that he did yesterday at the gym.  He said, "I didn't go on the stairs".  I said no you didn't.  He said " I do the stairs tomorrow."  What??  This kid screamed on the stairs, now he's having a change of heart.  I told him he would have to ask Miss Tiffany if he wanted to do the stairs.  I didn't make a big deal of it.  To be honest I didn't even encourage him.  Watching him on the stairs has been no picnic for me.  So we went on with our dinner.  Fast forward to right now, gym time, after throwing the beanbags.  He tells Miss Tiffany that he wants to do the stairs.  She too, tries to move on.  After all she has just scratched that goal off her sheet.  Will kept on talking about the stairs, even turning down the cage (one of his favorites) for the stairs.  What do you do!  So back to the stairs they go!

He still whimpered a little, but he did it!  I was so proud of him pushing himself to do something outside of his comfort zone!  Pretty mature thing to do for a 5 year old!

Super proud, yes I am!

Ok, now on to major progress.  That's what I love about the third week.  You get to see how far he's come in such a short amount of time.  Look at this video.  Tiffany barely touches him to help him up, then watch the control when he sits down.

Now watch this one.  More progress in the same session!  The "landing" isn't as good, but check out my boy standing up!

I love that he has fun in Miss Tiffany's gym!  Where else can you have a little dancing combined with therapy!

Finally, I'll show you something that Will has been working on.  This is new to him because he just got Zipper the Friday that we left for Kansas City, and also because Miss Tiffany just changed the way he's getting into Zipper.  This is work in progress, but he's doing pretty well!

So, it was a pretty good Thursday, day 13 in the gym.  Tomorrow will wrap things up.  As usual I probably won't post anything tomorrow.  Will and I are hitting the road after his day at the gym and spaceship.  Once I get home, I always get busy with real life again.  But I wanted to take a minute or two to say thank you. Thank you to all our constant supporters, not only the followers of this blog, but also our family (who better be reading this blog!) and everyone who has supported our past fundraisers in any way.
There is absolutely no way we could make these trips for this specialized therapy without those fundraisers. Phil and I are so fortunate to have the support network that we do.  I just can't imagine where Will would be if we did not have that amazing support.  We would like to continue these trips to Kansas City and now after seeing the difference the oxygen makes, we would like to be able to continue that too.   These are not trips that we take for granted.  I hope each of you get to see Will sometime soon to see for yourself the progress he's making.

You can actually have that opportunity very soon!  The owners of Chihuahua's Restaurant in Troy have graciously agreed to host our first fundraiser of 2014.  Next Thursday, March 20th from 4:00-9:00 pm come out for a wonderful Mexican dinner and help Will get to KC again this summer!
You have to bring a fundraiser flyer to be included in this event, unfortunately I'm not "techie" enough to post one here, so I'll have to work on that when I get home when I have tech support from  my "techie" hubby!   Stay tuned!

The Final Week! A fun filled weekend with family and dives 27 &28

Happy Monday!  It's week 3.  We're almost finished.  Will is ready to go home.  He is missing his Daddy, (and he just saw him yesterday!). Phil and the kids came in Friday night and stayed until yesterday afternoon.  We filled the weekend with as much as we could!  Two movies (me and big kids), 3 dives (Will and his daddy), indoor skydiving (Ben and Isabel), and church (together!)!  Together again!  My kiddos!  Will's waving to the camera! All the happy divers...Phil, Grandma Linda, Mason (front and center!) Josie and Will! I had a fun surprise for Ben and Isabel!  Indoor Skydiving!  They LOVED it!  Score one for MOM!  It was fun to watch.  Will said he's going to do it next time!  I might just try it too!   They take you out once to let you figure it out and then give you a second flight to go much higher! The first video shows Isabel's first flight, the instructor said sh...

Hello Friday!!! Dives 36 and 37

Dive 36- Josie and Will.  Started the day with another dose and oxygen and Mickey Mouse! Our last solo workout in Miss Tiffany's gym.  We skipped the yoga today and went right for the stairs.  Will grabbed his canes and some friends and got started.  As he was walking it occurred to me how often I took for granted when Ben and Isabel went walking across the floor with toys in their hands.  Just think about that for a minute...then watch this video! He carried Mario and Luigi to the stairs.  I carried them up the stairs and then he proceeded to throw them down.  Typical kiddo! After getting hurled down the stairs now poor Mario has to be thrown in a hoop!  Poor guy! He threw all of Mario's friends in the basket too.   Then he made his way across the room to leave Miss Tiffany one last message.  He made it about halfway when he fell, but you know Will, he got right up and finished the job! I think Will enjoy...

Soccer!

Miss Isabel decided she would play soccer this year.  She played when she was in Kindergarten but when 1st grade sign ups came around she said she didn't want to play.  When I asked her why, she said..."It's just too much running!".  Then when sign ups came in second grade, she thought she might like it again.  Well, we signed her up and then she decided that she didn't want to play after all.  Practices hadn't even started yet so we let her quit.  Many of her friends were playing though and I think once the season really got started, she regretted her decision.  So here we are, a year later and  Izzy (as she's starting to use these days) is playing soccer in the third grade!  There is still a lot of running, which she's still not crazy about, but hey...she's playing!
